At the beginning of August 1956, Elvis embarked for Miami in his new Lincoln. His first stop was on August 3 at the Olympia Theatre in Miami where he played a total of seven shows in two days at this venue. Fans started waiting in line at midnight the day before, and the opening Friday shows commenced with screaming fans who, as papers reported, were so hysterical that the star was barely audible above the unrelenting shrieks from the audience. It was at these shows that Elvis’ pants were torn and his lavender jacket was ripped by overly enthusiastic fans. It was during these engagements in Miami that Elvis was also forced to trade in his lavender Lincoln, only weeks old, after it was vandalized with love notes and phone numbers scrawled all over in lipstick. The Elvis frenzy was in full bloom! After Miami, Elvis went on to enchant fans in Tampa, Lakeland, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Dayton and Jacksonville before continuing on to Louisiana. This Florida and Louisiana All-Star Show tour with 27 shows in 10 days generated $20,000 for Elvis, plus his cut of the concessions. Offered are five black-and-white news service photos of Elvis performing in Miami and St. Petersburg. Each of these stunning images vividly captures the iconic Elvis early in his career with each more divine than the next. On the back of each 8 by 10 inch (20.32 x 25.4 cm) photo (one photo measures only 9 1/4 by 7 1/2 inches, 23.49 x 19.05 cm) are stickers and/or stamps (single and/or multiple) from Photo Trends on 1328 Broadway in New York. Some also contain handwritten credits for the individual photograph and/or location and date. These wonderful images, depicting the playful, talented and dashing young star, over whom every young lady was swooning in 1956, attest to the reasons fans were going wild for this new sensation! The grouping of original news service photos is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The visual appeal of these images is off the charts so the minor edge wear is easily overlooked. Excellent condition overall.
