Not only was Elvis featured in many films, but he also thoroughly enjoyed watching movies. He often went to the theater as a young man and that habit continued into adulthood when he would rent out an entire theater to watch a film. As technology progressed and the video recording system became a popular format in the mid 1970s for home viewing, Elvis would watch his favorites in the comfort of his bedroom at Graceland and offered is Elvis’ own personal JVC video cassette player. Elvis was passionate about technology and acquiring the latest and greatest, which this video system, developed by JVC (Japan Victor Company), certainly was. The high-tech model CR-6300U allowed you to both play back and record; the control area contained a counter reader, audio select knob, auto repeat knob, tracking and power switches. The right-side controls contain the tuning knobs and the fast forward, play, stop, rewind and record buttons. A green and black sticker on the reverse of the device reads “UL Listed 227C Video Equipment” alongside the manufacturer, serial and model numbers and six jacks. The VCR measures 7 1/2 inches (19.5 cm) in height, 24 inches (60.96 cm) in width and 17 1/2 inches (44.45 cm) in length. The device emanates from the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction (lot C40) and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the 1999 Graceland Archives auction and a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The device shows signs of moderate to heavy use, with scuffing and scratches to the top and sides. It appears to be in working order, but has not been tested. Excellent to Mint condition.
