In 1966, Colonel Parker encouraged Elvis to rent a home in Palm Springs as an escape from his hectic Hollywood filming schedule. Elvis rented the Alexander Estate at 1350 Ladera Circle in September 1966 and it was in this home that he and Priscilla spent their honeymoon on May 1, 1967. The young married couple spent many weekends at their getaway house, as this was the place they felt they could relax from the stress of Los Angeles where they had lived in the Bel Air neighborhood until obsessive fans discovered the perfect location from which they could peer into the windows with binoculars. Shortly after, Priscilla found a home in Beverly Hills, in the posh Trousdale Estates neighborhood, which the young couple purchased in November 1967. However, Elvis and Priscilla so enjoyed their relaxing getaways in Palm Springs that they purchased a home of their own at 845 W. Chino Canyon in Palm Springs on April 2, 1970 with a $13,000 down payment on the property and an $85,000 mortgage. Immediately upon purchasing the new Palm Springs home, they added a swimming pool. Later in 1974, major renovations were done that included adding interior paneling in the recreation room, red tile to two of the bathrooms and the addition of extra square footage that included a sauna. This was the home in which Elvis recorded “I Miss You” and “Are You Sincere” in September 1973 in the living room. The house was sold in 1979 to singer Frankie Valli.

Offered is a set of keys for the house at 845 W. Chino Canyon, the home Elvis and Priscilla fondly referred to as “Graceland West” for the stress-free, fun environment it provided. The keys come with a letter from David Collins stating that these were acquired from the 1999 Graceland Auction as lot C236. This treasured set, including two keys, a lock key, a Los Angeles Police Department key fob, and a club-shaped duplicate key tag with “Palm Springs” written in marker, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The keys are in excellent, well used condition overall.
