From the Trude Forsher Collection

Elvis and the Colonel recognized the importance of keeping in touch with family, friends, and fans during the holidays and an efficient way to do so was by sending greeting cards. They could serve double duty as a thoughtful touch that also kept Elvis forefront in people’s minds at holiday time. Elvis and the Colonel employed the help of their West Coast secretary, Trude Forsher, to not only organize and send, but she too was the recipient of various greetings as an important cog in the Elvis machine. Offered is a collection of twenty-nine (29) greeting cards from as early as the 1950s possibly through as late as the 1980s. This festive grouping includes:

  • Three (3) “1959 Elvis and The Colonel” Postcards, two with the printed Western Union telegram message from Elvis and one with postcard back and handwritten “Lotte Wulkan” in blue ink, each measuring 3 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches (8.25 x 13.98 cm);
  • One (1) 1966 Christmas Card from “Elvis Presley and Family” measuring 5 1/2 by 7 inches (13.98 x 17.78 cm);
  • Sixteen (16) holiday greetings from Colonel Parker that includes Christmas, Easter and New Year’s Cards, several signed, while some are most likely signed by his wife Marie with measurements ranging from 3 3/4 by 4 3/4 to 4 by 9 1/4 inches (9.52 x 12.06 to 10.16 x 23.49 cm);
  • Six (6) Tom Diskin Signed Christmas Cards, measuring 4 1/8 by 5 1/8 to 3 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches (10.47 x 13.01 to 8.25 x 20.95 cm);
  • One (1) Tommy Sands greeting card measuring 5 by 7 inches (12.7 x 17.78 cm); and
  • Two (2) holiday telegrams, one from Colonel Parker and one from Maurice Kinn, each measuring 6 1/4 by 8 inches (15.87 x 20.32 cm);

This comprehensive collection of the personal holiday cards and ephemera, emanating from the collection of Trude Forsher, is a treasure trove of holiday cheer and good will and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The collection of cards varies in condition with most in excellent condition overall. The telegrams are discolored from age and the Presley Christmas card has tape residue along the center top edge, one of the "Elvis and Colonel" postcards also has tape residue and the one with postcard back is discolored from age.
