Elvis begins 1973 with his record-breaking performance at the International Convention Center Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii which was televised to the world. Shortly after, Elvis flies to Las Vegas to begin his 1973 winter engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton. Elvis opens his 8th Vegas engagement on January 26 and performs through February 23. He stays busy with tours scheduled in April after his Aloha special airs in the US, before heading to his engagement in Tahoe, followed by another show tour in June and July before returning again to Las Vegas in August for another engagement. During his August performances, Elvis is given a white linen scarf with Asian designs and calligraphy by a fan which Elvis wears on stage. Offered is that very scarf that was gifted to Elvis which he later presented to Sheri Lacker (daughter of Marty Lacker). The scarf, emanating from the Mary Lacker collection, comes with a letter, dated August 12, 2017, from Sheri Lacker on Memphis Mafia “From the desk of: Sheri L. Lacker” letterhead that states:

This delicate white linen scarf with Asian lettering and graphics was placed onto the neck of Elvis Presley during one of his concerts during the week of August 9, 1973 by a member of the audience. I was sitting with my mother and Linda Thompson in the “Presley” booth near the stage when it was placed on his neck and he wore it until the end of the song. At the end of the evening, Memphis Mafis member and Elvis bodyguard Sonny West gave it to me backstage in Elvis’ private dressing room suite where everyone gathered immediately after the show. He also gave me a gold origami foil paper crane lei that had also been put around Elvis’ neck in much the same manner as this linen scarf that same night. It has been in my sole possession since that night.

The lei that is also mentioned in the letter was sold in a previous auction at Graceland. This beautiful scarf with colorfully detailed design measures 13 3/4 by 32 inches (34.92 x 81.28 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The scarf presents with some edge wear and several areas of staining that could be sweat. Excellent to Mint condition.
