The story of A Stone for Danny Fisher featured Danny as a boxer in a suburb of Brooklyn, New York. The film was originally written for James Dean, but then it was shelved after his untimely death in September of 1955. In 1957, the idea of the film was resurrected and adjusted for the lead to be played by the wildly popular star, Elvis Presley. The character of Danny was converted from a boxer to a musician to suit the new lead, the location was changed to New Orleans, the title was adjusted to King Creole, and a new film adaptation of the novel was born. King Creole was released by Paramount in July of 1958 and was a critical and commercial success as well as being one of Elvis’ favorite roles. Elvis was supported in his lead role by Walter Matthau as the gangster Maxie Fields, Carolyn Jones played Ronnie, Maxie’s mistress, with Dolores Hart as Nellie, the girl who falls for Danny, Jan Shepard as Mimi Fisher, Danny’s sister, Paul Stewart as Charlie LaGrand, owner of the King Creole nightclub, and Lilliane Montevecchi as Forty Nina, a stripper at the King Creole Nightclub among others in this large cast ensemble. Offered is a fabulous table tent card that was used on the set of the movie King Creole that features a standing black-and-white image of Forty Nina, the stripper in the King Creole Nightclub played by Lilliane Montevecchi that has been signed and inscribed “To Doug from Elvis Presely.” This provocative table tent card has also been signed with a big bold blue ink autograph by Lilliane Montevecchi, “Forty Nina” herself, along with inscriptions to Doug from Paul Stewart and Jan Shepard as well. In this stunning prop, Forty Nina’s upper body is die-cut from the table tent so that just that part stands up straight when the tent is placed on the table. This original period movie prop that has been signed and inscribed by several of the cast is a racy relic from this triumphant film. The table tent measures 10 by 4 3/4 inches (25.4 x 12.06 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The card presents with moderate toning, some staining on the reverse and mild wrinkling. Excellent condition.
