Leather jackets have always been synonymous with the kind of cool of which Elvis Presley certainly had no shortage. Offered is Elvis’ personally-owned brown leather Saks Fifth Avenue jacket likely worn by Elvis in the late 1960s. The light brown leather jacket with six-snap front closure and two chest pockets was gifted to Sonny West. In addition to the Saks Fifth Avenue collar label, the jacket also has a tag from “R. Sherman Leather Cleaners, Inc. 895 Bergen St. Newark, N.J. 07112” with cleaning instructions on the reverse that recommend cleaning by R. Sherman for best results, as well as a lot tag with the numbers “6555 / 8039” and the size “48L.” The interior lining has stretched over time from frequent use and has been taped with brown shipping tape. The jacket is offered with a letter from Sonny West on TCB letterhead, dated April 20, 1995, that states, “The lining in the back of a light brown leather coat that Elvis Presley gave to Sonny West had to be taped to keep it from showing.” The letter is signed by Sonny West. It was typical of Elvis to give items of clothing from his closet to members of his entourage, and Sonny was the beneficiary of such a bequest in this stylish leather coat. The leather jacket measures approximately 31 inches (78.74 cm) in length with the sleeve measuring approximately 26 inches (66.04 cm) in length. It is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The leather jacket is faded, with some staining overall and shipping tape affixed to the lining. Jacket is well worn and loved.
