Turquoise is the national stone of Tibet, the birthstone for December and is often used to describe the color of the waters in Turkey, from where the stone found its way to Europe. The stone is known for its mystical properties of ensuring health, good fortune and protection from evil. In the United States the stone was widely used by Native Americans in their ceremonies, jewelry and trading with other tribes and cultures. In the U.S. in the 1960s and ’70s, Native American and turquoise jewelry realized a big boom in popularity and with the advent of the hippie movement, celebrities like Cher, Jim Morrison and even Elvis was wearing this new style. Always at the forefront of trends and fashion, Elvis adopted and embraced this new accessory with pieces of turquoise jewelry adorning his jumpsuits, fingers, wrist and neck. Offered is a silver cuff bracelet with large center turquoise stone owned by Elvis Presley. The accompanying notarized March 30, 2012, “Statement of Authenticity” on “Elvis Museum” letterhead states, in part, “I, Mike Moon, do solemnly sear the information contained in this Statement of Authenticity and the facts surrounding it are from the statements of J.D. Sumner. During the 1970's, when Elvis Presley was performing in Las Vegas, a Native American was frequently allowed to visit the hotel where Elvis was staying, and made custom turquoise jewelry for Elvis. He was referred to only as 'Chief.'” On May 1st, 1980, J.D. Sumner sold to the Elvis Museum of Pigeon Forge, TN a large assortment of Elvis Presley's personal possessions that Elvis gave to J.D. During the 1970's. Part of this group was the following item: LARGE TURQUOISE AND SILVER BRACELET WITH 3 CORD ARMBAND, CONNECTED ON EACH SIDE OF THE STONE WITH A RECTANGULAR BAR, WITH LARGE TRIANGULAR MOTTLED TURQUOISE STONE.” Also included is a modern copy of a photo showing Elvis wearing a very similar turquoise bracelet. The photo is not clear enough for a conclusive match, but it does appear to be a bracelet very similar to the offered example. The interior of the band has a hallmark that reads “F.G.” The bracelet measures 2 3/4 by 2 1/4 inches (6.99 x 5.72 cm), the turquoise stone measures 1 1/4 by 1 inches (3.18 x 2.54 cm) and the bracelet is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The bracelet show signs of wear, but presents with no defects Near Mint condition.
