Mike McGregor was a blacksmith and leather craftsman who met Elvis in the 1960s at the Western shop where Mike worked crafting saddles. Elvis hired Mike to work at the Circle G Ranch taking care of the horses. Mike and his family lived at Circle G and then moved to Graceland, where he continued making leather goods and jewelry for Elvis until he left Graceland to open his own jewelry shop in Mississippi in 1976. His relationship with Elvis was always a strong one and even the parting was very amiable. Mike made his own version of the TCB necklaces which were Elvis’ trademark as well as other handsome pieces of jewelry. Mike became accomplished in his craft and the offered sterling silver statement necklace is a fine example. The unusual design of three connected abstract shapes, each mounted with a dark greyish blue stone (likely a type of cat’s eye), are suspended from a silver rope chain necklace. The reverse of the lower centerpiece is etched “MM,” the typical marking that Mike would engrave into his jewelry designs. The sterling silver necklace, marked “sterling,” weighs 70 grams. This attractive necklace, making quite a bold statement, was gifted to Dave Hebler, Elvis’ body guard. Dave Hebler was a karate expert who met Elvis in 1972 and was hired almost immediately as a personal bodyguard for the King. Elvis gifted Dave and many of his entourage a plethora of gifts over the years. The necklace comes with a handwritten letter from Dave, dated 3/26/01, that states in part, “My name is Dave Hebler and for a number of years I was Elvis Presley’s personal bodyguard. One day in Palm Springs, Ca., Elvis gave me a necklace. This necklace is described as three huge stones (which I understand to be black onyx) set in silver with a silver chain.” This gorgeous stone necklace measures 4 1/4 by 3 inches (10.8 x 7.62 cm), the chain measures 15 inches (38.1 cm) in length, in total, and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The necklace presents with moderate wear, mostly to the reverse. Near Mint condition.
