Savage Arms Co. manufactured the model 1907 in .32 caliber from 1907 through 1920 in Utica New York. The offered model is often referred to as the “1905” because of the date stamped on the pistol of November 21, 1905—the date that Elbert Searle was granted a firearm patent which was the basis for the design of the Savage semi-automatic pistol. This pistol uses no screws and was popular because of its small size and its 10-round double-stacked magazine. The pistol, designed for civilian use, was advertised for its ease of use by the defenseless woman to subdue burglars and the gun was further endorsed by celebrities such as Buffalo Bill Cody and the Pinkerton detective agency. This model was one of the most popular American made firearms of the 20th Century because of its design for personal use and the unique features not available in other pocket pistols of the time period. Despite the private use intent, this model, with slight variations, was used by the French during World War I. Manufacture of the Savage pistol ceased in the late 1920's with approximately 235,000 of the Model 1907 having been made. This example has the Savage Quality (Indian head) seal on both sides of handle of gun and is marked at the top of barrel “Savage Arms Co. Utica NY USA Cal 32 / Patented November 21, 1905 - 7.65 mm” with stamped serial number 174954. The pistol was obtained by Elvis in the 1970's in Palm Springs California from Tiny's Gun Store. The store was one of Elvis' favorites where he bardered his personal items in exchange for firearms. The offered Savage 1905, personally owned and fired by Elvis prior to gifting it, comes with a letter from Dick Grob citing the circumstances of his acquisition. This collectible pistol is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The gun is in excellent condition overall with wear to the logo on the left side of the handle indicating use.
