Elvis loved technology and was passionate about law enforcement, and at the intersection of those two interests, there could be found a bevy of gadgets and equipment. When Elvis played policeman—and he wasn’t just playing, as his one official badge was for the Memphis police force—he had not only the firepower, badge and identification, but the lights necessary to pull over a vehicle and conduct a full inspection. The offered orange plastic shell spotlight with blue interior by Optronics was an ideal tool for routine procedures. The black extending cord ends in a cigarette charging adapter for use on the road. One can only imagine the number of fans wishing to be stopped by a cop named Elvis! This Optronics hand held spotlight was given by Elvis to Barbara Klein and comes with a letter from JoCathy Brownlee Elkington that states, "My name is JoCathy Brownlee Elkington and I dated Elvis Presley in 1975. Elvis gift [sic] this Red Optronics Spotlight to my good friend Barbara Klein. Elvis was always concerned about her driving to Graceland late at night. He gifted her a gun and this light in case of an emergency. These were given to her one night after we all went out to the movies at the Crosstown Theater." JoCathy was introduced to Elvis by Barbara and George Klein and the four would double date while Elvis and JoCathy were a couple. The spotlight measures 11 by 6 inches (27.94 x 15.24 cm), and the cord, unextended, is 48 inches (121.92 cm) in length. The light is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The light shows signs of heavy use. The light was tested by our consignor, but it did blow a fuse in the car in which it was tested. Excellent condition.
