Music was central to Elvis’ life and prosperity, but his schedule on the road could be grueling and the hours he kept were irregular, making an alarm clock essential. Elvis, being the technology fan he was, didn’t have just any alarm clock, but traveled with his Polaris radio alarm clock. Radio alarm clocks were invented in the 1940s and the choice of bells or radio to wake a sleeper only rose in popularity over time. For someone whose career involved making popular music and dominating radio air time, Elvis’ choice of a radio alarm clock could not have been more suitable. However, as accounted by Dick Grob, Elvis used this accessory mainly for the digital clock feature while on tour.  The digital clock radio comes with a letter from Dick Grob confirming that, “This small plastic Polaris digital clock radio was the personal property of Elvis Presley. Elvis would use this clock radio while on tour” and an additional letter from John Moss which states, “Regarding the Polaris digital clock radio. I spoke with Richard Grob while attending the Butterfields-Butterfield auction of Elvis Presley merchandise in Las Vegas, and he mentioned to me, that the clock radio had been used by Elvis Presley while on tour. He said that it was mainly used for the digital clock, since Elvis always had aluminum foil put over his windows, thus making the room very dark.” The Polaris clock radio measures 3 1/4 by 4 3/4 by 7 inches (8.25 x 12.06 x 17.78 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The clock radio shows signs of heavy use, with many scuffs and scratches, and a large piece of tape on the back. Very Good to Excellent condition.
