With regularly scheduled appearances, Elvis spent a lot time in the 1970s in Las Vegas. This period ushered in many new iconic trends for Elvis, from his famous jumpsuits and bejeweled accessories to his modes of transport. During the early to mid-70s, capes became a standard component with his jumpsuits; he would embellish his outfits with rings, many of which were in the gold nugget style; and his preferred vehicle became the Stutz. Offered is an 18-karat gold nugget style ring with four diamonds that he gifted to a gas station attendant as a “thank you” gift for a lift. This dazzling ring, marked “Swiss” and “750” denoting the 18-karat gold standard of fineness, and Gübelin hourglass mark for the maker, comes with a letter from James “Bo” Williams that states:

Elvis Presley gave me this diamond ring while I was working the night shift at the Stardust Texaco Service Station. The service station was across the street from the Stardust Hotel Casino. Elvis drove into the station with two bodyguards in a black Stutz. He was dressed in a dark blue corduroy suit and was wearing a pair of sunglasses at night. I gave them a ride in our shop truck back to the Hilton. Elvis gave me this diamond ring as a gift for driving them less than a mile back to his hotel. I swear this item to be authentic and a true accounting of what happened in the year around 1972 or 1973.

Elvis purchased two black Stutz automobiles, one 1971 and one 1973, the latter of which is on display at Graceland. Elvis also gifted Dr. Elias Ghanem, his physician in Las Vegas, a 1971 white Stutz. This handsome ring, with four diamonds weighing 0.50, 0.30, 0.25, 0.20 carat and measuring 5.1 mm, 4.3 mm, 4 mm, 3,8 mm respectively, and measuring a size 9 1/2, contains 18 karat gold on the top and 14 k gold on the shank (which was resized at some point), and is accompanied by a letter of Authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring shows signs of moderate wear, especially on the interior. Near Mint condition.
