The International Hotel opened in 1969 in Las Vegas, with Elvis’ comeback to live performances being the highlight attraction. The new hotel, boasting 1,519 rooms in a single tower, an 8 1/2-acre rooftop recreation deck, five fascinating foreign restaurants, and the world’s greatest entertainment in its impressive theater. The International Hotel was famed for much for touting the largest showroom in the world, capable of seating 2,000, as it was for the star-studded line-up of performers. The hotel changed its name to the Hilton in 1971 after only a two-year reign of being known as the International Hotel. Once Elvis hit the stage at this new International Hotel on July 31, 1969, he redefined what it meant to play Las Vegas with a record-breaking series of 57 shows in four weeks. After nearly a decade of focusing on movies, he came back with a vengeance, and between 1969 and 1976 performed more than 600 sold-out shows. During his press conference on August 1 after the wildly successful opening show the night before and his memorable comeback to live performances, Elvis wore a two-piece black suit with a high collar. He wore this same suit on stage, but few pictures of him on stage in this suit exist. Offered is an oversized news service photo of Elvis on stage at the International wearing a two-piece black suit, singing with all the energy and soul of a man reborn. The reverse of this stunning image contains the stamp of the news service “camera5” with credit to the photographer Peter Borsari. Additional notations in various inks also appear on the reverse. This larger size photograph, measuring 12 by 7 3/4 inches (30.38 x 19.68), captures the mammoth star and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The black-and-white photograph has heavy wear and creasing to the top and bottom edges, and grease pen marking on the upper right edge “13A Followed,” none of which negatively effects the stunning visual image of Elvis. The photo is in overall very good condition.
