On March 7, 1960 Elvis arrives back in Memphis after being discharged from his Army service. Elvis remains in Memphis until March 20 and during this time he enjoys being back home by attending Holiday on Ice at Ellis Auditorium two times, throwing a party at Graceland for deaf children, and renting out The Memphian theater and the Rainbow Rollerdrome for a night of rollerskating. It was likely during one of these escapades that the offered news service photo was taken. The black-and-white photo depicts Elvis reaching to hold a young boy while the boy is in his father’s arms. Handwritten ink notations appear on the reverse, “Robbie Williams being held by Guy Coffee / Elvis Presley / Cathy Lynn / Jane Morris / Pat Williams / 3/60 / 80847” with handwritten numbers “602” and “27” in the right corners and “Crowd with Elvis” written in black grease pen. The news service photo measures 8 by 10 inches (20.32 x 25.4 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photo is in excellent condition with some minor creases along the edges, tiny paper old in upper left, smeared ink marking along bottom edge, discoloration and surface soiling on the reverse.
