1976 was a year spent on the road for Elvis with 11 tours throughout the busy year. The seventh show of his sixth tour that year was July 29 at the Civic Center in Springfield Massachusetts. During the concert, Elvis sported his “White Egyptian Bird” jumpsuit with the Egyptian belt. The show was received with accolades and the following day the Springfield Daily News reported:

…Elvis did his thing and the audience showed its pleasure with screams and cries of “Elvis”, hand-clapping, foot-stomping, and those who could whistle, did. There aren’t many performers today who can hold audience attention from start to finish. Elvis is one who does it every time and anywhere he appears. Last the audience was under their King’s spell of song, charm, chatter and a toss of a scarf. The latter is a fixture in a Presley performance and some of the lucky persons who grabbed off scarves had to pay with a kiss. The Civic Center may have been in semi-darkness but the moment Elvis stepped on stage, an endless barrage of camera flashes made night look like day.

Offered is a ticket stub from the July 29, 1976 8:30 p.m. show for Section 62, Row P, Seat 6 on the floor. The pink ticket stub shows the price as $12.50 and has the handwritten notation of the date in blue ink. The ticket stub comes with a letter from Helen Gratkowski that states in part, “I saw Elvis in concert on six different occasions. One of those occasions was on July 29, 1976 in Springfield, MA. Please let this letter serve as provenance that the following items are authentic and obtained by me from the Elvis Presley Concert on July 29, 1976 in Springfield, MA. 1) One Elvis Presley Concert Ticket. 2) Sixteen original Elvis Presley 5x7 photographs of the event taken by me.” While only ten (10) images are included in this lot, they are up-close torso shots of Elvis in his full glory wearing that dazzling jumpsuit, with a white scarf around his neck in nine of them. Only someone sitting so close to the stage on the floor, as evidenced by Helen’s ticket stub, could have captured such clear images of Elvis in action. The ticket stub measures 2 by 2 1/2 inches (5.08 x 6.35 cm), each color photograph measures 6 by 4 inches (15.24 x 10.16 cm) and the collection is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photos present with no defects, and the ticket stub has creases and several areas of wear. Excellent condition.
