On March 12, 1961, Elvis was at Radio Recorders Studio B in Nashville to record “There’s Always Me” from the album Something for Everybody. It was during this session that the writer of the song, Don Robertson, came to the studio to meet Elvis. Don Robertson recalls Elvis wearing a captain’s hat during his first meeting with this musical giant. Elvis continued to record the following week at Radio Recorders in Hollywood to work on the soundtrack for the film Blue Hawaii before embarking on a journey to Hawaii for his U.S.S. Arizona benefit concert. Elvis was back at Radio Recorders in Hollywood again that following October. The offered black-and-white photo features an up-close shot of a smiling Elvis wearing a captain’s hat and standing in front of a regal building. Given the location and timing of when Elvis was wearing that hat, the photo likely dates from around this time period while Elvis was in Hollywood. The photo is stamped in black “Elvis’ Angels” along the bottom left and contains scrapbook residue on the back and folds along the right and bottom edges on the front indicating that this was either housed in a scrapbook, wallet or both during its lifetime. A treasured memento of a young, handsome, relaxed Elvis that any fan would want to keep close. The photo measures 2 7/8 by 2 3/4 inches (7.30 x 6.98 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photo has wear around the edges and a horizontal and vertical crease along the right and bottom edge where the photo was once bent. The reverse has adhesive residue from being stored in a photo album. Overall in very good condition.
