Elvis’ trademark TCB necklaces were famously distributed to his closest friends and associates, and often ordered in relatively large numbers, though they were usually designed only with gold. On occasion, more elaborate TCBs were specially designed and ordered for those closest to Elvis, and this necklace given to Dr. Nichopoulos, with its diamond-studded lightning bolt and TCB, falls squarely into that category. Dr. George Nichopoulos, a Greek immigrant who served in the Army and became a doctor, met Elvis in 1967. “Dr. Nick,” as he was called, began treating Elvis as his full-time personal physician in 1970 and also became a close personal friend. Dr. Nick once recalled Elvis’ inspiration behind the creation of his TCB logo with the lightning bolt as wanting it to be clear who was the boss in the strength of a lightning bolt symbol, and that he didn’t care as much with what they did as long as they always took care of business first. So creating necklaces with this symbol could be a reminder to his entourage and those with whom he worked closely. Offered is the diamond-studded 14 karat gold TCB necklace that was given to Dr. Nick by Elvis who personally placed it around Dr. Nick’s neck. This stunning necklace contains 20 2-pt full-cut diamonds in the TCB and 12 full-cut diamonds ranging from 0.5 to 3 pts in the lightning bolt for a total weight of 0.55 carats. The pendant, with no markings on the reverse, measures 1 3/4 by 3/4 inches (4.44 x 1.90 cm) and is suspended from a chain measuring 24 inches (60.96 cm) in length.

The necklace comes with a notarized letter dated December 7, 1998, from Dr. George C. Nichopoulos that reads, “This is to certify that the described necklace was a gift to me from Elvis Presley. 14K yellow gold TCB (trademark), with diamonds.” Dr. Nick once said of Elvis: “Elvis was impulsive and very generous, he’d give away things all the time. One important thing about Elvis is that material things didn’t mean diddly squat to him. He would buy something and wear it one time, or sometimes never even wear it at all, and then give it away. He was crazy about gadgets and got tired of them real fast.” This necklace, obviously a special design for a special person in Elvis’ life, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The necklace presents with moderate wear, expected on a piece that was worn. Near Mint condition.
