Joan Deary joined RCA about the same time that it signed new talent Elvis Presley. Joan was hired as secretary and over the years advanced to producer and eventually a de facto curator for Elvis’ vast musical catalog. It was in 1983 that Joan reached out to the Colonel and convinced him to allow her to go on a quest through Graceland for unreleased material, of which she found a treasure trove. During her quest she also focused her efforts on reissues and in August of 1984, RCA released the “Elvis 50th Anniversary” 45 re-issue containing “Hound Dog” and “Baby, Let’s Play House” on gold-colored vinyl as a celebration marking Elvis’ 50th birthday. This was a promotional issue conceived, produced and spearheaded by Joan Deary and initially personally distributed by her. Both tracks on the record are originally from the Elvis Presley A Golden Celebration album CPL6-5172. Offered is a complete case of twenty-five (25) picture sleeve 45s (number PB-13875) of this 50th celebration special collectible release. The picture sleeve image (on both sides) captures Elvis that magical day at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair & Dairy Show on September 26, 1956 in Tupelo, Mississippi when the new star returned to his hometown to perform for the first time since the start of his successful musical career. The box of 45s measures 7 1/4 by 7 1/4 by 2 inches (18.42 x 18.42 x 5.08 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The box is free of defects and the 45s and their sleeves are in Near Mint to Mint condition.
