The 1970s saw Elvis return to his musical roots with live performances. Not only was Elvis a staple in Las Vegas, he had a similar engagement in Lake Tahoe and he was back on the road performing live in a multitude of cities across the nation. Keeping fans abreast of Elvis’ whereabouts was key to keeping attendance up and audiences engaged. Perhaps no one was more adept at this task than Colonel Parker, who utilized a variety of techniques and methods to get the word out on where and when Elvis would be performing at any given time. One important approach was communicating directly with fans and that came in the form of fan correspondence and tour schedules. The informative letters could convey the latest news and updates, while the tour schedules would enable fans to post and share the tour schedule. Offered is a group of seven (7) tour schedules and fan correspondence (with all but one original mailing envelope addressed to Wanda Eberenz in Overland, Missouri) from the 1973 through 1976 seasons. The collection includes:

  • Loose tour schedule from July 8-July 24, 1975 on yellow paper;
  • July 23 - August 5, 1976 tour schedule on pink paper (handwritten notes on the reverse) with mailing envelope postmarked July 8, 1976;
  • Letter about the January 27 - February 10, 1975 tour on yellow paper in original mailing envelope postmarked Jan 14, 1975;
  • Combination letter and tour schedule for Sept 27 - Oct 9, 1974 on blue paper with original mailing envelope postmarked Oct 4, 1974;
  • Combination letter and tour schedule for Sept 27 - Oct 9, 1974 on white paper with original mailing envelope postmarked Aug 31, 1974;
  • Letter dated August 16, 1973 from Colonel Parker’s office on blue paper that says “We do not handle music in any form at this office and all such music received is returned to the sender. For audition purposes it is necessary to have both lyrics and music on a demo record with a lead sheet. You may direct your request to: Elvis Music, Inc. 1619 Broadway Avenue, New York, New York 1019. We want to wish you lots of good luck and much success with your music” in original mailing envelope postmarked Aug 17, 1973; and
  • Instant New Service release with tentative concert dates and locations for March 1973, which comes with original smaller mailing envelope with no return address, postmarked Jan 15, 1974.

Each tour schedule and fan letter measures 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm) and the collection is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The letters and documents present with different minor distresses. Excellent condition overall, with a few lesser.
