This collection of five period snapshots emanate directly from the grandson of the family pictured. The photos were recently discovered in a photo album belonging to this Memphis family who knew Elvis before he was famous and would often vacation with him. The three vacation images depict the grandparents and father during their youth and the color photo with no border captures the teenage boy in front of Graceland several years after the others when he had grown. While the early image of Elvis was in the album near the others, it is unlikely that it is from the same location. Elvis is pictured in white pedal pusher pants with a red bikini clad blonde laying by his side on a blanket on the shore of a lake somewhere in the mid-South, possibly Arkansas or Tennessee, during the 1950s and likely as early as 1955. The three (3) snapshots of the young couple and son each contain a black stamp on the reverse “This is a Kodacolor Print made by Eastman Kodak Company T.M. Regis. U.S. Pat. Off. Week Ending Aug. 20, 1955” and measure 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (8.89 x 8.89 cm). The additional color photo of the boy and woman in front of Graceland that has no border measures 3 by 2 1/4 inches (7.62 x 5.71 cm) and the snapshot of Elvis has been trimmed on the sides to measure 3 1/2 by 3 1/4 inches (8.89 x 8.25 cm). While a similar image of Elvis and the bikini-clad babe can be found (this woman has been purported to be Anita Wood in other images, however that claim is in dispute), this particular photo has not escaped its location in the family’s album until now. This rare, early image of Elvis relaxing is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The side edges of the snapshot of Elvis have been trimmed with a crease to the upper right corner and typical discoloration and slight fading from age. The remaining photos exhibit discoloration and slight fading on the front from age, one has some red marks along the white border and the photo without borders has slight paper loss in the upper left corner. Overall the photos are in excellent condition.
