In August 1977 RCA was beginning to advertise the upcoming September release of Elvis Greatest Hits Volume One which contained a mix of previously released recordings and some unissued performances from Las Vegas and Nashville. The LP contained ten tracks including “The Wonder of You” (Live), “Burning Love,” “There Goes My Everything,” “A Big Hunk O’ Love” (Unreleased Live Version) and “Suspicious Minds” on side one. Side two consisted of “In The Ghetto,” “Steamroller Blues” (Unreleased Live Version), “The Sound of Your Cry,” “Surrender” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” This version of the album was never released, likely due to Elvis’ untimely death during this period, and instead was released in October 1981 with a different order to the songs and “What’d I Say” (Unreleased Live) and “Don’t Cry Daddy” (Unreleased Live) replacing “In The Ghetto” and “Surrender.” Despite being touted as Volume 1, this was the only LP released in this series. The cover artwork also differed from the intended original, which featured the same image of Elvis in his American Eagle jumpsuit set against a black background on the front and back covers. Offered is the rare 1977 uncut sheet for the albums covers of this unreleased LP which lists the original songs intended for this earlier version. The uncut sheet measures 13 3/4 by 27 inches (34.92 x 68.58 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The sheet presents with one small area of distress in the lower right corner, with some paper loss, and some mild wrinkles in other areas. On the reverse is a handwritten notation in pen “Cover-never used.” Excellent to Mint condition.
