The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was first established in 1931 as the Houston Fat Stock Show and Livestock Exposition and has continued to grow over the years, drawing many of the biggest recording artists and continuing to this day. While attendance for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo now exceeds two million annually, in 1974 an attendance record was hit by Elvis Presley, whose first show of the day had an audience of close to 44,000. Later that very same day, Elvis broke his own record, with his second show exceeding that number and making the total attendance for the day over 88,000. These were Elvis’ last two shows performed at the Houston Astrodome. Offered is a collection from this 1974 Rodeo that includes a period 8 by 10 inch (20.32 x 25.4 cm) color photograph of Elvis performing at the concert; a “1974 Houston Livestock and Rodeo” logo show badge, engraved with “COMMITTEEMAN” in the name plate area, measuring 2 by 2 inches (5.08 x 5.08 cm); and a modern 4 by 6 inch (10.16 x 15.24 cm) print of a photo showing Elvis backstage at the concert, flanked by various show officials, one of whom is wearing one of these badges. This collection from the year of Elvis’ record-setting show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photo shows signs of age-related toning, but has no other major defects. The badge is very clean with no major distresses. Excellent to Mint condition overall.
