Fashion was important to Elvis and he always dressed the part. Thanks to his generous nature, his friends were the recipients of equally stylish gifts. One friend Elvis showered with gifts like watches, diamonds and even a car was his Las Vegas doctor, Elias Ghanem. An immigrant, Dr. Ghanem was known for being one of the best in his care of patients. He was a driving force in using the PPO long before it was fashionable, and it was said of him that he practiced medicine with both his head and his heart. Seeing a need, he moved to Vegas and Elvis soon became one of his first celebrity patients. Doctor Ghanem was known as the doctor to the stars, with patients like Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Wayne Newton, and Liberace. He was known for his kindness and caring nature which resulted in close relationships with his patients, including Elvis, who would often stay with the doctor at his residence in the Las Vegas Country Club. It was Elias’ good friend and patient Liberace who introduced him to his last wife, Jody. Jody was a Radio City Rockette who performed with and befriended Liberace.

Upon the passing of Dr. Ghanem in 2011, the offered sapphire and diamond ring that once belonging to Elvis and was gifted to Dr. Ghanem was left to Jody. She recalls them in a letter and notarized file copy, numbered 56/57, of an inventory list which refers to the 14k blue lapis diamond ring with grooved sides and states in part, “This 14k blue lapis center stone with diamond chips surrounding it was given to Dr. Elias Ghanem by entertainer, Elvis Presley. Elvis would often stay at Dr. Ghanem’s home located at 2981 Bel Air Dr. inside the gated community of the Las Vegas Country Club which is directly behind the Las Vegas Hilton. This 14k blue lapis stage ring is one of the items that Elvis gave to Elias during the mid to late 70’s.”

The gorgeous ring is perhaps more accurately described in the partial copy of the appraisal by John Fish Jewelers for Jody Ghanem dated 10-28-2016 in which this ring is listed as #12 – “Man’s Ring - 14kt yellow gold ring bezel set with a 2ct. dark blue oval sapphire. Surrounding the blue sapphire are set 16-.015ct. round diamonds of J-K color and SI clarity. The total diamond weight is .24cts. and the ring weighs 16 grams.” This handsome ring in a timeless style, size 9.5, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring presents with several very small scratches and scuffs to the interior and gold shanks, but presents beautifully. Near Mint condition.
