Elvis was a fan of jewelry and perhaps nothing more than rings and diamonds. Elvis would wear them by the multiples and purchase more as often as he would gift them. Offered is a ruggedly masculine 14-karat yellow nugget-style gold ring containing 14 “embedded” diamonds around the front surface. This is an absolutely stunning piece of craftsmanship that has the engraved initials “EP” on the interior band. The size 10 ring was gifted by Elvis to his Las Vegas physician, Dr. Elias Ghanem, in the 1970s.

Dr. Elias Ghanem was a physician in Las Vegas who became the doctor to the celebrities after first treating Elvis Presley. Many performers would contract what was called “Vegas throat,” basically a sore throat from belting out tunes to the large Vegas audiences. Elvis was no exception and Dr. Ghanem, a Palestinian immigrant, went on to treat stars like Tom Jones, Glen Campbell, Raquel Welch, Johnny Cash and Liberace, to name a few. It was his friendship with Liberace that connected him to his last wife, Jody, who had performed for eight months with the flamboyant star in her role as a Radio City Rockette. Elvis was so appreciative of Dr. Ghanem’s help during his time in Vegas that, over the years, he showered him with gifts like a Stutz car, two watches, a diamond ring and a TCB medallion. Elvis would often stay with Ghanem at his Bel Air Drive home and it was not uncommon for Elvis to leave his personal items there, perhaps intentionally.

The offered gold-nugget-style ring with diamonds was one such treasure. The ring is accompanied by a letter from Dr. Ghanem’s wife Jody and a notarized file copy numbered 3/57 of an inventory list in which Jody lists “the personal effects of Elvis Presley that were either given directly to Dr. Elias Ghanem or were left by Elvis in his guest bedroom while staying at Dr. Ghanem’s home located at 2981 Bel Air Dr. inside the Las Vegas Country Club.” The letter states in part, “This 3.5 carat stage ring is one of the items that Elvis gave to Elias during the mid to late 70’s. This ring was left to me by my husband Dr. Elias Ghanem after his untimely passing on August 27, 2001 at the age of 62.” Also included is a portion of a copy of a John Fish Jewelers appraisal in which this ring is best described as #2 on the list, “Mans Ring - 14k yellow gold diamond ring hammer set with 14 round diamonds ranging from .40ct. down to .16cts. The diamonds are of H color and SI clarity. The ring tapers 24 mm down to 10.9 mm at the bottom. The ring weighs 30.8 grams and the total diamond weight is 3.50cts.” This bold, solid, and striking ring, a timeless treasure befitting a king, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring shows signs of moderate to heavy use but the nugget-style pattern remains mostly intact. Near Mint condition.
