Elvis was passionately spiritual and voraciously read books on religious and philosophical subjects. The Impersonal Life by Joseph Benner was one of his favorites and he often gave copies of this title as gifts. The Impersonal Life, first published in 1914 and also known as the “I AM” teaching, claims that the true spirit resides in every human being. This book about self-discovery and spirituality attracted Elvis to its message so he wanted to share this important teaching to those close to him. The offered copy was gifted by Elvis to his RCA record producer and close friend, Felton Jarvis. This copy of the tome contains the inscription, “To Felton and Mary all Best wishes and Love forever Elvis Presley.” The iconic book, so adored by Elvis, comes with a letter from Chris Davidson that states in part, “This thirty-third edition of the Impersonal Life, published in 1973, was purchased by entertainer, Elvis Presley and signed to Felton Jarvis who was Elvis’ RCA record producer from the mid 60s until 1977. Elvis always carried a copy with him and gave a few of these to close friends to share the Words of Wisdom contained in the spiritual book. … This book came from Tony Frost, nephew of Felton Jarvis.” This copy measures 5 3/4 by 4 1/8 by 5/8 inches (14.6 x 10.47 x 1.58 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The book’s front endpaper (the blank first page inside the front cover) has been removed. The area where the signed page meets the binding has been reinforced with a small strip of rice paper. Apparent Excellent condition.
