“Suspicious Minds” was recorded by Elvis in January 1969 at the American Sound Studio and it was these sessions with Chips Moman that produced some of Elvis’ greatest music. Elvis first performed the song in Vegas in July 1969 and the 45 single was released by RCA less than a month later, reaching number one on the charts by November. “Suspicious Minds” was Elvis’ final number one track. Now is your chance to own the RCA award issued to Colonel Parker for this hit single. This award emanates directly from Colonel Parker’s own collection and is being sold to benefit the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation. The period RCA award on black felt (updated from the green felt style issued in the 1950s) has a plaque that reads, “To Col. Tom Parker. In appreciation of his contribution toward making SUSPICIOUS MINDS / 47-9764 / A Million Seller 1969.” This award with black velvet background is framed in silver and measures approximately 14 by 12 by 5/8 inches (35.56 by 30.48 x 1.58 cm). The award for this hit single, emanating directly from the Colonel’s personal collection, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation

The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation (EPCF), a 501(c)3 organization, was formed by Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. in 1984 to continue Elvis’ own tradition of generosity and community service, and to honor his memory. All of the EPCF’s funds are used for charitable donations — nothing is deducted for staffing or other operating costs. The foundation has assisted numerous charities over the years and has a longstanding relationship with the College of Communications and Fine Arts at the University of Memphis where the Elvis Presley Endowed Scholarship Fund was created. Also, dear to Elvis’ heart, the foundation has supported outstanding Memphis-based charitable organizations, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the National Civil Rights Museum. The foundation receives a portion of its overall income from Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.  A meaningful amount of the EPCF’s funding also comes from donations made by Elvis fan clubs and individual Elvis fans and admirers from around the world.

The award frame shows minor scratches and scuffs, reverse is backed by cardboard with tape, center record is tarnished from age, overall excellent condition.
