Paradise, Hawaiian Style was released by Paramount Pictures in June 1966, reaching number 40 on the Variety box office charts and achieving over $2.5 million at the box office. Directed by Michael D. Moore, who was an assistant director on six previous Elvis films, Paradise, Hawaiian Style was Elvis’ 21st movie and was filmed on location on the picturesque island, resulting in breathtaking footage and stunning visuals. It chronicles the story of Rick Richards, played by Elvis, who starts a helicopter charter service on the island. With dazzling panoramic views of Hawaii throughout the film, this substantial poster captures the spectacular scene. The three-sheet poster’s main image dominates the senses with color and Hawaiian style, heralding the film as “HIS NEWEST! HIS BIGGEST!” It goes on to extoll the selling point of the film as, “All Elvis breaks loose in the Swinging Swaying Luau-ing South Seas!” Yes, “luau-ing” is a word. The poster, which is stored folded, measures approximately 81 by 41 inches (205.74 by 104.14 cm) when assembled and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The poster is extremely clean. Distresses are limited to one area of paper loss on the lower left section and some tears and chipping to some edge areas. EX-MT condition.
