A campy film with the glitzy setting of Las Vegas that employs a fast-paced, fun plot with two dynamic stars, Viva Las Vegas became an instant box office success for its co-stars Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret. Despite recording 15 songs, the soundtrack for the movie, released with the film in May 1964, contained only four tunes. “I Need Somebody to Lean On,” written by Doc Pomus and Mort Sherman was one of the four on the soundtrack and one of only nine songs used in the film. Recording for the soundtrack took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood on July 10, 1963, however it was months later on September 4, 1963 that the movie version of the song was recorded at the MGM soundstage in Hollywood. Offered is an original MGM double-sided acetate with a red-and-black label that contains the handwritten notations ”1812 / 9-3-62 / 2403-1 / Somebody To Lean On” with “CUED 78” stamped in black. The reverse contains an MGM label with almost identical handwritten notations, but with “NOT CUED 78” stamped in black on this side. This movie version of the song was recorded on September 4, 1963, the same date written on both labels. The movie version of “I Need Somebody To Lean On” has a prominent saxophone throughout that is not present on the record version. The acetate measures 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The acetate is in very good condition with scuffs and minor scratches to the surfaces of both sides and two nicks to the very edge that would not likely impact the playability.
