From the collection of “Rockin’” Robin Rosaaen.

A remake of the original 1937 film, Kid Galahad starred Elvis Presley and was released by United Artists in August 1962. Kid Galahad is the story of Walter Gulick, a mechanic and two-bit boxer who gets into fighting for the money and wins all his bouts plus the heart of the girl he admires. In the film, Elvis plays the role of Walter the boxer, and many of the promotional images, including the cover of the soundtrack album, feature Elvis in boxing trunks and gloves, in a fighting stance. Produced by Mirisch Company and distributed by United Artists, Kid Galahad reached number nine at the box office, with an LP soundtrack of six songs issued to coincide with the film’s release.

This handsome framed display includes an original “Kid Galahad” sweater worn by Elvis’ female co-star, Joan Blackman, a black-and-white image of Elvis and his co-stars wearing the sweater and a period copy of the Sunday Parade newspaper insert from March 1962, which features Elvis in fighting attire with his sweater-clad co-stars on the full-color cover. The offered sweater was purchased by the consignor at a charity fundraising event to which the Mirisch family, whose production company made Kid Galahad, donated it to be sold. The letter from our consignor reads, in part, "This very rare, Kid Galahad movie-worn sweater, which has “JB” marked on the inside label, was worn by Joan Blackman. It is one of only six of these sweaters from the movie, and the only one that I have seen in my more than 40 years of collecting rare Elvis-related movie and personal items. This beautiful sweater was donated to a charity fundraising event by the Mirisch family, who owned the production company for the film. I was able to acquire the sweater at this event and had it professionally matted and framed to preserve it. It hung for more than 20 years in my hallway. A rare and wonderful piece of Elvis movie-related clothing." The framed display measures 34 1/4 by 39 by 2 3/4 inches (86.99 x 99.06 x 6.98 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The sweater exhibits multiple holes and pulls overall, but is in very good condition.
