Kid Galahad, starring Elvis Presley, was a remake of the original 1937 film. Elvis’ version, produced by Mirisch Company and distributed by United Artists in August 1962, reached number nine at the box office. In the film, Elvis plays Walter Gulick, a broke young man recently discharged from the Army who takes up boxing to earn a living. Elvis recorded the song tracks for the film in October of 1961 at Radio Recorders Studio in Hollywood, California. The LP soundtrack of six songs was issued to coincide with the film’s release and shipped on August 28, 1962. The special six-song movie soundtrack included the tunes, “King of the Whole Wide World,” “This Is Living,” “Riding the Rainbow,” “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” “I Got Lucky” and “A Whistling Tune” and sold over 400,000 copies. Offered is a colorful example of the horizontal RCA promotional record store poster that features a full color image of the picture sleeve and large bold color letters announcing “Six Big Songs from his New Movie” alongside “on RCA Victor / Elvis / With an Original Soundtrack Spectacular / ‘Kid Galahad.’” The text is set against a dark blue background and a row of yellow arrows points purchasers to the announcement of the songs and movie. This vibrant example, measuring 13 by 33 1/4 inches (33.02 x 84.45 cm), is stored flat and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster has benefitted from minor professional restoration and reinforcement of the original folds. Excellent to Mint condition.
