While a fairly lighthearted musical romp about an American soldier may not have played well in southeast Asia just a few years later, in 1961, Elvis’ G.I. Blues was widely consumed. The offered poster, from the film’s promotion in Thailand, screams “ELVIS” and, just as loudly, “USA!” with a backdrop of the Stars and Stripes and our Army hero in the foreground. It’s a bold and beautiful alternative to the U.S. promotional posters. The film tells the story of Tulsa McLean, played by Elvis Presley, which mirrors that of the star himself. Tulsa, a specialist in the Army stationed in Germany, loves to sing and plans to open a nightclub upon his return to the States. The storyline follows his schemes of making money to fuel his dream, which of course lead to love. The plot of this movie is believed to be the start of the popular Elvis movie formula used for years to come. The poster measures 21 by 30 inches (53.34 x 76.2 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster presents with brilliant colors but does exhibit several small areas of edge wear with paper loss and chipping. Excellent condition.
