Elvis Sails was a special 45 EP record created by Elvis, RCA and the Colonel to highlight the departure of Elvis as he sailed to Germany to carry out his soldier’s duties. Without the opportunity to create new records overseas, the Colonel and RCA were eager to keep their star relevant in the hearts and minds of fans, so almost immediately after Elvis’ ship set sail, they released this special 45 EP. Both sides are press interviews Elvis did at the Brooklyn Army Terminal and aboard ship that day. The cover of the EP has the recognizable image of Elvis in his Army hat breaking through a newspaper headline and the RCA Victor logo with the designation 45EP EPA-5157 in the upper right. Offered are a pair of black-and-white uncut sheets for the front and back covers of Elvis Sails. The back cover advertises four additional “great” Elvis EPs with images and a listing of others. These uncut sheets were either likely used for promotional purposes sent to record stores for display or possibly simply printing proofs. The uncut sheet front cover measures 8 1/4 by 8 1/8 inches (20.95 x 20.63 cm) and the uncut sheet of the back cover measures 7 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches (19.05 x 19.05 cm). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Near Mint to Mint condition with only the slightest bit of toning.
