From the Trude Forsher Collection

Loving You was Elvis’ second motion picture but his first starring role. Released nationwide in July of 1957 by Paramount Pictures, the film was a box office success. Loving You was based on the short story “A Call from Mitch Miller,” which was first published in Good Housekeeping in 1956. Elvis stars as Deke Rivers, a delivery boy who is discovered by a talent agent and country singer. The film chronicles the adventures of his success on stage and in his love life, a story about a down-to-earth American kid who sings his way to the top and goes too high too fast. The story of Deke Rivers was said to have been inspired in part by co-writer Hal Kantner witnessing Colonel Tom’s escapades with Elvis on the Louisiana Hayride. Elvis co-stars with Lizabeth Scott, Wendell Corey and Dolores Hart. The movie was released by Paramount Pictures on July 9, 1957 to box office success with even the movie soundtrack, which included the single “(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear / Loving You,” reaching platinum status.

It was standard practice for the Colonel and his crew to set up shop in the studio at which Elvis Presley was currently filming. Offered is a stiff cardboard sign, colored to approximate gold, with bold, black lettering “COLONEL TOM PARKER” above his title of “SNOW MAN” in quotes. This sign would have graced the wall of Colonel Parker’s studio lot office while they were at Paramount for the filming of Elvis Presley’s film, Loving You. The sign has “243 ADM” written on the reverse and comes with a pair of keys for the office on the Paramount studio lot and two black-and-white images of the interior of the office. The “Snow Man” sign measures 3 by 11 1/2 inches (7.62 x 29.21 cm), and each photograph measures 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (8.89 x 8.89 cm). This collection of five pieces of Paramount-related materials from Loving You originates from the Trude Forsher collection and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The sign, photos and keys are all in excellent condition overall. One of the keys has a small area of discoloration on the teeth.
