This rarer, early Belgian poster promotes the 1957 Elvis Presley film Loving You. Elvis dominates this poster, which uses a slightly more detailed version of the illustration from the U.S. posters, in all his performing glory and surrounded by co-stars (and now lower-billed stars than the young singer) Lizabeth Scott, Wendell Corey and Dolores Hart. The story of Deke Rivers, a delivery man vaulted into stardom by a publicist and older country western star, was said to have been inspired in part by co-writer Hal Kantner witnessing Colonel Tom’s escapades with Elvis on the Louisiana Hayride. Still adhered to the top of the poster is the original snipe from the local theater in Ertvelde, Belgium, with times at which the film would have shown. The blank spaces on Belgian posters were meant for this type of local theatre information to be written in or added, as in the offered example. The metal plaque at the bottom of the frame reads “Loving You / Belgium.” The poster measures 22 by 17 inches (55.88 x 43.18 cm), is framed to dimensions of 25 by 20 inches (63.5 x 50.8 cm), and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The poster exhibits minor scuffing and several fold lines upon which there is minor paper loss in several small areas. Colors remain bright and bold. Excellent condition.
