Elvis’ personal manager, Colonel Tom Parker, handled all of Elvis’ publicity, including pre-release press conferences for movies and records and for other events. The Colonel created the offered poster to promote Elvis Presley’s 1957 film Jailhouse Rock. Only a very small quantity was made, to be used only at these personal appearances. The pre-release press conference related to this poster’s movie took place in San Francisco, and Elvis found himself fielding questions from a room full of reporters. A modern print of a photo from that very press conference showing one of these rare posters on the wall in the background is shown for reference. The poster’s design is pure Colonel Parker, with its large “NOW” headlines presaging the later Las Vegas concert promotional posters from the 1970s. Offered here is a rare survivor from that moment, one of only a few known pre-release publicity posters for Elvis’ greatest film. The poster measures 25 by 38 inches (63.5 x 96.52 cm), is stored rolled and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster has been improved in condition during the linen backing process. Apparent Near Mint condition.
