Please Note: Based on the single-color printing, the offered daybill is most likely for a re-release of this film, though the exact year cannot be determined conclusively. It is possible this is for a subsequent printing of the original release of the film, but most single color Australian daybills were for re-releases of the film.
The offered Australian daybill promotes Elvis Presley’s iconic 1957 film Jailhouse Rock. This rarely seen poster features the same illustrations as the U.S. posters for the film—Elvis up close in profile and dancing in the jailhouse cell—but executed in a single bold, brown color. Co-stars Judy Tyler, Mickey Shaughnessy, Dean Jones and Jennifer Holden help Elvis through Richard Thorpe’s direction of this tale of Vince Everett, a young man jailed for manslaughter who is taught to embrace the musical gift that becomes his redemption, leads to great success and ultimately almost becomes his downfall. An interesting and uncommon artifact from the worldwide promotion of Elvis Presley films. The poster is stored folded, measures 30 by 13 inches (76.2 x 33.02 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The poster has one area of discoloration in the lower right corner, but is otherwise very clean. Excellent to Mint condition.
