Released by 20th Century Fox in November of 1956, Love Me Tender was Elvis’ movie debut. This Western-themed musical was originally titled The Reno Brothers, but was renamed after Elvis’ hit single “Love Me Tender” reached over one million in advance sales. Love Me Tender was a fairly straightforward Civil War-era Western tale with some nice plot twists and some songs thrown in for good measure. Only four songs were used in the film and released on the mini-album LP in November 1956 by RCA to coincide with the film’s release. The songs included the title track “Love Me Tender,” with “We’re Gonna Move,” “Poor Boy,” and “Let Me.” The title song was released as a single on September 28, 1956 and went straight to number one on the charts. Offered is a 78 RPM acetate that contains the song “Poor Boy” from Love Me Tender. The song was recorded on August 24, 1956, at 20th Century Fox Stage 1 in Hollywood, California, in the same session when Elvis recorded “Love Me Tender” and “We’re Gonna Move.”  It should be noted that the Audiodisc batch number on the disc is “6223,” which matches the number on an example with an MGM label offered in a previous Graceland Auction. Also included is copy of the auction advertisement that lists the offered record, from Goldmine Magazine, dated November 3, 1989. The disc measures 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The acetate presents with minor scuffs and scratches, but is in playable condition. VF
