In 1956, to commemorate its recording contract with Elvis, RCA offered an Elvis signature series of its popular 1955 portable EY series record players. The Elvis signature series is blue vinyl with a light blue tweed lid, ivory interior and ivory volume and tone finger wheels, while the tone arm and matching spindle top are tan in color. The lid has two snap arm closures on either side and a clear plastic carrying handle. The RCA Victor logo is in white on the front plaid cloth and Elvis Presley’s printed signature is in gold at the top front right corner. The interior has the original gold sticker listing the model number as 7-EP-45 and the serial number RVG 002762. This model proved not as popular as the EY series and therefore is much scarcer today. This example also includes the original owner’s manual that describes how to use and enjoy your “Automatic 45 ‘Victrola’ Portable Phonograph.” This portable Elvis signature series 45 record player enabled the enthusiast and fan to listen to the King on the go. The record player measures approximately 7 1/4 by 12 by 12 1/2 inches (18.41 x 30.48 x 31.75 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The portable player exhibits typical signs of wear from age and light use including two small rips to the covering, wear at the corners and inner-workings that are slightly loose; overall excellent condition.
