Pinback buttons are a popular form of advertising as they can be worn as an accessory, carrying the promotion around on one’s person for all to see. The use and popularity of advertising buttons started in the political arena in the U.S. in the time of George Washington and continue to be used for promotional advertising today. Offered is an incredible collection of a variety of Elvis buttons issued in the 1950s. The collection includes:

  • “I LIKE ELVIS” button in red and white measuring 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter;
  • “ELVIS THE JOIK” button measuring 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter;
  • “Love Me Tender” lenticular button, the reverse of which reads “Copyright 1956 Elvis Presley Enterprises,” measuring 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in diameter;
  • “ELVIS PRESLEY” lenticular button, the reverse of which reads “Copyright 1956 Elvis Presley Enterprises,” measuring 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in diameter;

  • “Oy Gevalt ELVIS” button measuring 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter; and
  • “I LOVE ELVIS” button in red and white measuring 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter;

Elvis created a movement in music that not only helped to create rock ‘n’ roll as we know it today, but forever changed the face of music. As with any pioneer, he had fans and detractors alike. Each side was able to advertise their opinion of the leader of this movement through the use of pinback buttons. Opponents to the new musical style might don the “Elvis the Joik” button, while his supporters had the wider range of choices. This early collection of seven (7), including variations in style and type, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The buttons present with only mild oxidation on the reverse and a few scuffs and scratches. Excellent condition overall.
