Elvis’ 1967 feature film Clambake sets up the classic “Prince and the Pauper” storyline with pure Elvis style. Directed by Arthur Nadel and co-starring Shelley Fabares, Will Hutchins and Bill Bixby, Clambake is the story of the heir to an oil fortune who trades places with a Florida water ski instructor to see if the girls will be attracted to him for his personality rather than his family money. The film was distributed by United Artists in October of 1967 and reached number 15 on the weekly box office charts. Principal photography for the movie began on March 22, 1967 with most of the filming shot in southern California and only some stock footage in Florida where the story is set. While final reviews were mixed, Variety hailed the film as one of Presley’s “top offerings to date, backed by a legitimately-premised story line, melodic songs, acceptable acting and winding with a spectacular water race. Film has all the makings of being one of Presley’s heaviest grossers,” yet it would be the last movie for which Elvis would garner a seven-figure paycheck. Offered is a collection of fourteen (14) black-and-white, medium-format production contact sheets from the film. The almost 150 images on the contact sheets were taken on set and during filming, and likely used for continuity of makeup, wardrobe and props and possibly for promotional purposes. A spectacular behind-the-scenes glimpse into the production of an Elvis musical movie. Each contact sheet measures 11 by 8 inches (27.94 x 20.32 cm) and is affixed to a canvas-type backing. The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Each contact sheet is in excellent condition overall with only slight edge wear.
